Namushasha River Lodge overview
Namushasha River Lodge is a comfortable riverside base on the Kwando River in Namibia’s Zambezi Region. It lies about 24 kilometres south of Kongola and provides easy access to river activities and guided visits to nearby Bwabwata National Park.
The lodge has 24 rooms set among leafy grounds near the river. Guest areas and rooms have been refreshed, while the overall character remains relaxed and practical. Couples, families, birders and self-drive travellers can use the lodge as a base for several nights or as part of a longer journey towards Katima Mulilo, Chobe or Victoria Falls.

Namushasha River Lodge rooms and family accommodation
The 24-room layout includes twenty twin rooms, one triple room and three family rooms with four beds each. Family units are useful for parents travelling with children, while twin and triple rooms suit couples, friends and smaller parties.
Room amenities include air conditioning and heating, mosquito nets, a safe, tea and coffee facilities, a hairdryer and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. Each room also has a veranda. Complimentary bottled water and basic toiletries are provided according to the current room arrangement.
Standard room rates are generally based on bed and breakfast. Travel 2 Namibia will confirm the right room category, bedding layout and child rate before the booking is finalised.
Namushasha River Lodge facilities and dining
The lodge has a restaurant, bar, curio shop and cold-water swimming pool. Wi-Fi is available, along with mobile connectivity, secure parking and 24-hour security. Laundry service can be arranged at an additional cost, and major credit cards are accepted.
Breakfast is included with standard room bookings. Lunch, dinner and packed lunches are available separately, which makes it easier to plan around drives and cruises. The restaurant and river-facing shared areas provide comfortable places to spend the quieter parts of the day.
For travellers who want greater privacy, the nearby Namushasha River Villa offers an exclusive-use option for two.
Namushasha River Lodge and Bwabwata activities
Guided game drives enter Bwabwata National Park, where the landscape combines woodland and floodplain habitats. Wildlife sightings vary, but the wider area is known for elephants, buffalo, hippos and varied birdlife. Park fees and refreshments are included only where stated in the booked activity. For conservation and habitat information, see Namibia’s official Bwabwata National Park overview.
Boat cruises are offered in the morning, afternoon or around sunset, depending on the seasonal schedule. Guided fishing is also available and follows a catch-and-release policy. Fishing licences are separate, while lost or damaged tackle is charged to the guest.
Water levels can limit access to river channels, particularly later in the dry season. Activities should therefore be booked with some flexibility and reconfirmed locally.
Planning a Namushasha River Lodge stay
The lodge is approximately 24 kilometres south of Kongola on the C49. Standard vehicles can reach the property, and secure parking is available. Transfers from Mpacha Airport near Katima Mulilo and connections between selected Zambezi properties can be arranged in advance.
Children are welcome. Children up to five years generally stay free, while those aged six to thirteen usually receive a reduced bed-and-breakfast rate. Family-room availability is limited, so early planning is useful during busy travel periods.
Namushasha River Lodge fits naturally into a route through north-eastern Namibia. Travel 2 Namibia can combine it with other accommodation in Namibia and confirm current room rates, meal options, transfers and activities.
